The ENDO-ERN (Rare Endocrine Diseases), which is supported by the European specialist societies for adult and pediatric endocrinology, brings together the expertise of 71 centers from 19 countries in the field of rare hormonal diseases. The LMU Clinic is particularly involved with diseases of the pituitary gland, adrenal glands, thyroid gland, gender differentiation, growth and calcium metabolism. more

The ERN-RITA (Rare Immunodeficiency, Autoinflammatory and Autoimmune Disease Network) combines the activities of leading European centers and established scientific networks for primary immunodeficiencies, secondary and acquired immunodeficiency diseases, vasculitides (vascular inflammations) and pediatric rheumatic diseases. Together with Prof. Andrew Cant, University Newcastle (UK), the ERN-RITA is also coordinated by Prof. Christoph Klein, Director of the Children's Hospital and Polyclinic at Dr. von Haunerschen Kinderspital. more

The ERN Skin deals with rare and complex skin diseases. The ERN Skin brings together 56 expert centers from 18 EU member states with different focal points and is coordinated by the Necker Enfants Malades Hospital (France). Prof. Kathrin Giehl, Center for Rare and Genetic Skin Diseases at the Clinic for Dermatology and Allergology, is responsible for the local management of this ERN at the LMU-Klinikum, combined with a membership on the board of the ERN Skin. more

The EURO-NMD (Neuromuscular Disorders) deals with rare neuromuscular diseases, in particular muscular dystrophies and mitochondrial diseases. The Friedrich-Baur-Institut is one of the world's leading centers for these disease groups and is therefore now an integral part of the EURO-NMD with a total of 61 neuromuscular centers from 14 EU member states. more

The "Kompetenznetz Hepatitis", or Hep-Net for short, is an association of well-known experts in the field of hepatitis in Germany. Founded in 2002 by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, it aims to improve nationwide research into viral liver inflammation and the care of patients with chronic viral hepatitis. Since 2007, the German Liver Foundation has been the sponsor of the "Hepatitis Competence Network" in order to continue the successful work of the research association after the end of public funding in 2010. more
