ERN-RITA (Rare Immunodeficiency, Autoinflammatory and Autoimmune Disease Network)

The ERN-RITA (Rare Immunodeficiency, Autoinflammatory and Autoimmune Disease Network) bundles the measures of leading European centers and established scientific networks for primary immunodeficiency, secondary and acquired immunodeficiency diseases, vasculitis (vascular inflammation) and pediatric rheumatic diseases. 24 core centers and more than 100 potential affiliated centers are involved in improving patient care across Europe with the help of complex diagnostic assessments and highly specialized modern therapies. Together with Prof. Andrew Cant, University of Newcastle (UK), the ERN-RITA will also be run by Prof. Christoph Klein, director of the children's clinic and polyclinic in the Dr. by Hauner Children's Hospital.

European Reference Networks (ERNs) are associations of highly specialized hospitals in Europe funded by the European Union to provide the best possible cross-border diagnosis and therapy for patients with rare diseases, to implement and harmonize standards of care, and to facilitate translational and clinical research. After an elaborate application and review process, the positively evaluated European Reference Networks were announced by the European Reference Network Board of Member States on December 15, 2016. The official inauguration of the networks took place in early March in Vilnius, Lithuania.
