Competence network for hepatitis

The "Hepatitis Competence Network", or Hep-Net for short, is an association of well-known experts in the field of hepatitis in Germany. The Hep-Net was founded in 2002 by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research to improve nationwide research into virus-related liver inflammation and the care of patients with chronic viral hepatitis. Virus-related liver inflammation is one of the most common infectious diseases worldwide, affecting around one million people in Germany. Since 2007, the German Liver Foundation has been the sponsor of the "Hepatitis Competence Network" in order to continue the successful work of the research association after the end of public funding in 2010. The main goal of the German Liver Foundation and the "Hepatitis Competence Network" is realized in various projects: improving patient care through research networking.
