Functional genome research not only represents a significant economic factor for Bavaria as a business location; as a key technology of this century, it has found its way into almost all areas of our lives.
Research into the function, interaction and regulation of human genes and gene products forms the basis for the development of new methods for the diagnosis and therapy of diseases. As part of the Bavarian Genome Research Network, the Bavarian State Ministry of Education and Culture, Science and the Arts is now funding nine cutting-edge research projects in current and relevant areas of functional genome research in Bavaria.
