ENDO-ERN (Rare Endocrine Diseases)

The ENDO-ERN (Rare Endocrine Diseases), which is supported by the European specialist societies for adult and pediatric endocrinology, brings together the expertise of 71 centers from 19 countries in the field of rare hormonal diseases. The LMU Clinic is particularly involved with diseases of the pituitary gland, adrenal glands, thyroid gland, gender differentiation, growth and calcium metabolism. Prof. dr Nicole Reisch, Medical Clinic IV, coordinates the activities at the site and is responsible for the adrenal gland diseases in the network. The interdisciplinary clinical care in highly specialized outpatient clinics is closely linked to the diverse scientific activities of the location - for example within the framework of the German Conn and Cushing register or the European network for adrenal tumors.

European Reference Networks (ERNs) are associations of highly specialized hospitals in Europe funded by the European Union to provide the best possible cross-border diagnosis and therapy for patients with rare diseases, to implement and harmonize standards of care, and to facilitate translational and clinical research. After an elaborate application and review process, the positively evaluated European Reference Networks were announced by the European Reference Network Board of Member States on December 15, 2016. The official inauguration of the networks took place in early March in Vilnius, Lithuania.
