Medical & Clinician Scientist Program (MCSP)

Medical progress needs researching physicians. The aim of the Munich Clinician Scientist Program (MCSP) is to offer physicians optimal conditions for combining a scientific and clinical career (clinician scientists) within the framework of a structured excellence programme of the Medical Faculty. The programme is based on existing doctoral programmes and structures and aims to train and promote clinician scientists. In close association with the Munich Medical Research School (MMRS), it enables excellent doctors from all disciplines to receive interdisciplinary and individually tailored training during the 36-month funding period, which includes a structured curriculum and close mentoring. Firmly anchored protected research periods amounting to 40-50% of the programme duration ensure the successful implementation of experimental, translational and clinical research. The participation of several Clinician Scientist programmes with different focal points thus creates a range of events that offers doctors joint training at a high level, enables the acquisition of interdisciplinary key qualifications and promotes the exchange between doctors from different disciplines..
