logo

The Medical Faculty of LMU Munich and the "Rufzeichen Gesundheit!" Foundation, Baierbrunn, will award the prize for the best original paper from the previous year or the current year in the field of overall experimental or clinical medicine as the result of a research project from Ludwig Maximilian University Munich. Cooperation with non-university institutions is possible. The prize is endowed with € 50,000 and was offered for the first time in 2012.

The prize is awarded for the best original paper from the previous year or the current year in the field of overall experimental or clinical medicine as the result of a research project from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. The work may also involve a collaborative project with other institutions; however, the lead must be clearly with the submitting member or members of LMU Munich. The thesis must be submitted in English or German. The work must be published in 2021 or 2022 (date of print publication from 1 January 2021) or currently accepted for publication; it may only be submitted once for application.

An application can be submitted by first author*, equal second author and/or senior author. The submitter(s) will be awarded the prize and must be members of the LMU Munich at the time of publication and at the time of application for the prize. Previous winners of the "Rolf Becker" Award may not apply a second time.

The application for the prize must be accompanied by a declaration that the work has not been submitted for any other prize, as well as the written consent of the non-submitting first authors, equal second authors or senior authors to apply for the prize.

The prize committee, which was appointed by the Faculty of Medicine on 7 July 2021, evaluates the incoming papers. The sponsor of the prize is the "Rufzeichen Gesundheit!" Foundation, Baierbrunn. The prize can also be awarded as a shared prize to more than one application. A division of the prize endowment among the authors of a paper is possible.
