  • Speaker LMU: Professor Dr. Eckhard Wolf
  • Affiliation: Chair for Molecular Animal Breeding and Biotechnology, Gene Center LMU Munich

Diabetes research aims to detect diabetes early, reduce its consequences and successfully prevent it. The German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD) is pooling its expertise at five locations. The DZD was founded in 2009 and was rated excellent by an international panel of experts in 2014. More than 300 scientists from non-university and university institutions are working together in this national network for a future without diabetes.

Under the maxim of rapid knowledge transfer, scientists and doctors from different disciplines work together in the DZD. The DZD combines basic research, epidemiology, clinical application and conducts large multicenter studies on the personalized prevention and therapy of diabetes. This translational research approach enables patients to benefit more quickly from the research results.
