Clinical Elective Program

In order to intensify the partnership, students from the SUNY Upstate Medical University have an opportunity to complete a clinical internship at LMU Munich in the context of the International Campus Program.

Practicing hospital routine

Here students get to know the daily routine on wards and learn about diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. They are also introduced to new approaches and methods and practice clinical skills.

Out and about in Munich and the surrounding area

In addition to insights into the hospital, research and tuition at LMU, there is also an interesting social program awaiting the exchange students. In this way, they get to know the country and the people in their spare time and benefit from their exchange in both medical and personal respects.

Elective assignment

Clinical rotations between four to twelve weeks are available for Upstate students any time of year at any of our clinical departments. For an overview of potential host departments see our list of clinical divisions, institutes and labs (only in German).

Recommended fields are Anesthesia, Dermatology, Neurology, Orthopedics, Radiology and Surgery.

Tuition will be waived.

Knowledge of German is not mandatory. For detailed information see: Visiting Student Elective application item 6
